From Campus to Cloud: MU Empowers Colleges with New Digital Hub for Research
Misamis University officially launched its Digital Repository for Research Outputs on March 14, 2026, providing a centralized platform for students and faculty to upload, access, and showcase their scholarly work. The launch brought together college deans, college secretaries, and research coordinators, who participated in hands-on sessions, system walkthroughs, and policy discussions. The activity was organized by the Misamis University Research Center in partnership with the Management Information System (MIS) Department and Human Resource Department, highlighting a collaborative approach to strengthening research management.
The workshop began with a discussion of policies and guidelines led by MIS Director Ms. Louella Faye R. Lazaro, ensuring participants understood the procedures for uploading research outputs, setting college-specific deadlines, and monitoring productivity. This was followed by a step-by-step system walkthrough conducted by MIS Systems Programmer Mr. Jonry Q. Alcano, demonstrating dashboard navigation, search features, metadata entry, and report generation. Participants then engaged in hands-on exercises, applying what they learned to standardized uploading, metadata management, and other practical functions under the guidance of the MIS Technical Team.
Interactive Q&A sessions and discussions allowed college leaders to collaborate on strategies for tracking research outputs, generating reports, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies. Beyond enhancing research management, the workshop contributes directly to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 4 – Quality Education, by improving access to research resources; SDG 9 – Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, by implementing a digital system to strengthen research management; and SDG 17 – Partnerships for the Goals, by fostering collaboration among college administrators, researchers, and technical teams.
By combining policy guidance, practical training, and digital tools, the workshop equips participants to streamline research management, monitor productivity, and enhance the visibility and impact of scholarly work, reinforcing Misamis University’s commitment to research excellence, innovation, and academic collaboration.
