39Strengthening RAIN-SUN: Working Together for a Healthier Community
The Misamis University College of Nursing, Midwifery and Radiologic Technology continues to strengthen the Responsive Action for Integrated Nutrition–Sustainable and Unified Nutrition (RAIN-SUN) Program, a community extension initiative committed to addressing child malnutrition and promoting better health and well-being in local communities.
On, August 20, 2026, a Coordination Meeting and Validation of Identified Beneficiaries was successfully conducted at Barra Elementary School, Barangay Barra, Tudela, Misamis Occidental, Philippines.
The activity brought together key community and academic partners who share a common commitment to improving the health and nutrition of children in the community. Present were Barangay Captain Hon. Jimson G. Faunillan, the teachers of Barra Elementary School led by School Principal Ms. Jeeneth T. Macahis, Dean Dr. Sammy B. Taghoy of the College of Nursing, Midwifery and Radiologic Technology, Misamis University Community Extension Program (MUCEP) Staff Ms. Jersam C. Calago, College Community Extension Coordinator Ms. Maebil Marie B. Go, together with selected nursing faculty, staff, and students.
The coordination and validation activity served as an important step in ensuring that the RAIN-SUN Program responds to the actual needs of identified beneficiaries through collaboration, evidence-based action, and community participation.
Together, Misamis University and its community partners continue to strengthen initiatives that nurture healthier children, empowered families, and more resilient communities.
