MU TEAMBUILDING 2025:MU goes to Dahilayan Forest Park
Misamis University, in collaboration with the Human Resource Department, recently organized a comprehensive team-building activity for all faculty members and staff. This initiative was designed not only to foster stronger interpersonal relationships among colleagues but also to promote mental well-being and development. Recognizing the demanding nature of academic and administrative work, the university prioritized this event as a way to give their personnel a much-needed opportunity to recharge and connect outside the usual work environment.
The choice of Dahilayan Forest Park as the venue was deliberate, reflecting the university’s commitment to providing an environment conducive to relaxation and rejuvenation. Known for its tranquil and refreshing ambiance, the park’s serene setting offers a perfect backdrop for reflection and bonding. The natural beauty of the forest, combined with calming fresh air, allowed participants to relax mentally, ease their stress, and engage more openly with peers, strengthening their sense of community.
Moreover, the exciting rides and attractions at Dahilayan Forest Park added an element of fun that encouraged teamwork and camaraderie through shared experiences. Faculty and staff had the chance to enjoy adventurous activities together, fostering trust and cooperation in an informal setting. This blend of relaxation, enjoyment, and purposeful interaction exemplifies Misamis University’s holistic approach to nurturing its academic family’s well-being and cohesion.
The seminar titled “Balancing Leadership and Well-Being: Stress Management for Deans and Department Heads,” organized by Misamis University in partnership with the Human Resource Department, offered a meaningful space for leaders to pause, breathe, and reconnect with themselves. Deans and department heads often carry responsibilities that stretch far beyond the day-to-day classroom concerns, and the seminar acknowledged the emotional weight that comes with guiding entire academic units. Through thoughtful discussions, shared reflections, and gentle reminders about self-care, participants were encouraged to look at leadership not only as a duty, but also as a personal journey that requires balance and compassion.
One of the heartwarming purposes of the activity was to support the mental development and inner well-being of university leaders. The sessions highlighted simple yet powerful practices; mindfulness, reframing challenges, and setting healthy boundaries, that help leaders approach their roles with clarity and confidence. The seminar reminded participants that taking care of their mental health is not a sign of weakness but a crucial step toward becoming stronger, more empathetic, and more effective leaders. When leaders are emotionally grounded, they create a healthier atmosphere for the faculty and students who depend on them.
Just as important, the seminar became a beautiful opportunity to strengthen relationships among colleagues. Sharing stories, exchanging insights, and engaging in group activities allowed deans and department heads to see one another not just as administrators, but as people who experience similar struggles and hopes. This sense of camaraderie helped deepen trust and connection across different departments. By nurturing these relationships, the seminar planted the seeds for a more supportive and collaborative community, one where leaders can lean on each other, celebrate small victories together, and face challenges as a united team.

The seminar on Stress Management among Staff members, conducted by Misamis University in coordination with the Human Resource Department, offered a gentle and welcoming space where staff could step away from their usual tasks and reflect on their own well-being. The program recognized the many pressures that staff encounter each day, including assisting students, supporting faculty, and handling administrative duties. Through thoughtful discussions and shared experiences, the seminar reminded participants that caring for themselves is just as important as the work they do for the institution.
One of the meaningful goals of the activity was to support the mental development and emotional strength of all staff members. The sessions introduced simple yet helpful practices such as calm breathing exercises, positive ways of understanding difficult situations, and setting healthy personal boundaries. These approaches encouraged staff to nurture their resilience and maintain a clear and steady mindset even during busy or stressful moments. The seminar emphasized that when staff members feel mentally supported and emotionally centered, they are better able to grow, lead, and find satisfaction in their daily responsibilities.
Equally important, the seminar aimed to strengthen relationships among colleagues, creating an atmosphere of trust and understanding. Through interactive group activities and open conversations, staff members discovered that many of their challenges were shared by others. This sense of connection helped build a stronger bond within the workplace, encouraging kindness, empathy, and cooperation. By fostering these relationships, the seminar supported the development of a more united and caring community where staff members can rely on one another and celebrate small successes together.
