2. Orientation Programs and Peer Facilitator Workshops

In August 2024, MU conducted extensive College and Department Orientations for all academic units from Elementary and Senior High School to all College Departments. These sessions helped students adjust to university life and understand available support systems. To further strengthen peer-led student support, the Guidance Office also hosted Peer Facilitator Workshops on November 16 and 23, 2024. These workshops equipped student leaders with skills in communication, empathy, basic counseling, and peer support.

3. Counseling Services

Misamis University provides structured counseling services as a core component of its mental health support system. Counseling enables students to discuss academic, emotional, personal, or social concerns in a safe and confidential environment.

Key features include:

  • A total of 390 students availed counseling services during the period
  • Counseling is available both online and in-person.
  • Students are referred by faculty members, deans, other offices, or parents.
  • Sessions focus on problem-solving, emotional support, adjustment concerns, and decision-making guidance.

Counseling helps students clarify their thoughts, manage stress, understand their personal situations, and develop meaningful solutions to their concerns.

4. Holistic Support for Student Well-Being

Overall, MU ensures that students across all year levels—College and Senior High School—receive continuous guidance and support. Through seminars, orientations, peer programs, and counseling, the university fosters:

  • Better mental health and emotional stability
  • Improved academic adjustment
  • Strengthened interpersonal skills
  • Confidence and resilience
  • Preparedness for future career paths

Misamis University provides strong, institution-wide mental health support through its well-structured programs and services, ensuring that students have access to the guidance, resources, and professional help they need to thrive academically and personally.
