Misamis University Successfully Collaborates with Kasetsart University at the 2024 KU Social Sciences International Conference
Misamis University's partnership with Kasetsart University has significantly broadened its engagement with international opportunities. A recent highlight of this collaboration was Misamis University's participation in the 2024 KU Social Sciences International Conference held on September 5, 2024. The conference, themed "Social Sciences for Sustainable Development: How Social Sciences Are Driving a More Sustainable Future for All," offered a hybrid format with both in-person and online participation and was hosted at Kasetsart University. This event reflects the growing impact of the partnership in fostering global academic exchanges and contributing to sustainable development initiatives through social sciences.
Faculty members from Misamis University presented their social science research to an international audience online, sharing a range of impactful studies. Highlights included “Household Attitude and Problems Encountered in Relation to Solid Waste Management Practices" by Dr. Cynthia S. Superable; "Nurses' Experiences in Caring for Female HIV/AIDS Patients: A Phenomenological Study" by Judy Jane S. Revelo; "Voice of the Abusers: A Phenomenological Study on Domestic Violence" by Dr. Jose F. Cuevas, Jr.; and "Unraveling the Complexity of Abandonment of Street Children: A Phenomenological Study" by Dr. Jesus G. Ocapan Jr.
Other notable works included “Understanding Perceptions and Barriers to Accessing Quality Healthcare: A Qualitative Study on SDG 2 in Rural Communities” by Dr. Merasol O. Duyag; “Artificial Intelligence Adoption, Research Skills, and Statistical Knowledge: Their Influence on Statistical Productivity Among Graduate Students” by Dr. Genelyn R. Baluyos; "Social Support and Financial Stability: Key Factors in the Well-Being of Student Beneficiaries in the One Family, One Professional Program" by Dr. Analyn S. Clarin; " Influence of Political Culture on Sangguniang Kabataan Officials’ Leadership Styles and Civic Engagement" by Catalino L. Emperio III; and "Exploring Knowledge, Attitude, and Practices of Tourism Providers in Mt. Malindang Range Natural Park, Philippines: Basis for Interventions" by Hanzen D. Tomatao. These studies underscore Misamis University's commitment to addressing critical social issues and advancing sustainable development goals through rigorous research.
Additionally, Dr. Lloyd B. Ranises, Dr. Russel Galindo, and Dr. Markdy Y. Orong from Misamis University served as session chairs, contributing to the event’s success. The conference also saw the active participation of 218 undergraduate students from the College of Education, College of Business Management, and College of Arts and Sciences, further connecting them with international academic dialogue.
