The Office of Linkages and International Affairs has developed this comprehensive manual designed to guide the management of both local and international collaborations. This document outlines the policies, procedures, and strategies for developing partnerships with institutions and organizations across various sectors, both domestically and globally. It serves as a clear framework for effectively managing Misamis University's expanding network of academic and industry partnerships, enhancing educational quality, and supporting our internationalization efforts.
On the local level, the Office collaborates closely with higher education institutions (HEIs) to explore diverse opportunities, including research partnerships, faculty exchanges, and joint academic initiatives. In addition, it works with industries to create valuable internship programs that provide students with practical skills and improve their employability upon graduation. Existing internship opportunities will be continually supported and enhanced to ensure students gain relevant experience in their chosen fields.
On the international front, the Office implements its strategic vision to broaden the university’s global presence. This manual provides details of key priorities such as enhancing academic programs, fostering international activities, and building enduring partnerships with foreign institutions. The Office international initiatives will focus on:
- Internationalization of Teaching and Learning
- Internationalization of Curriculum
- Internationalization of Research
- Internationalization of Community Engagement
Initially, the Office will focus on launching home-based or online initiatives, such as joint or mirror classes, which are logistically simpler and quicker to implement. These online collaborations will lay the groundwork for the internationalization efforts and set the stage for more substantial future exchanges and global engagements.
Subsequently, the Office will establish international exchange programs, recruit international students and faculty, and create international scholarship opportunities to support these initiatives. By prioritizing exchanges and international mobility, the Office aims to enrich the academic environment of the university and contribute to the professional and cultural development of our students and faculty, moving the whole institution towards becoming a global university.
Our international initiatives will initially concentrate on Southeast Asia, given its proximity and cost-effectiveness, allowing to form practical and resource-efficient partnerships.
The Office of Linkages and International Affairs will oversee these initiatives, ensuring effective coordination and collaboration across the university. Regular monitoring, assessments, and recommendations shall be conducted to ensure the success and sustainability of these programs.
