ESTERO Program of Misamis University was recognized for its environmental endeavors
Misamis University’s Adopt-an- Estero Program entitled Ecological Strengthening through Environmental Rehabilitation and Orientation (ESTERO) Program and its implementers have received recognition from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) during the Adopt-an-Estero Partner’s Forum held at Philtown Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City, last October 16, 2014, for its valuable contribution for the protection and enhancement of the water quality of Carangan Creek.
All partner agencies and institutions have presented their 15 minute-slideshow of success stories to benchmark the best practices. The most common activities shared in the presentations are the mobilization of clean-up drives, tree planting and trash traps installation.
The Environmental Classes for Mothers (ECM) has enlightened other partner agencies that educating the residents along the creek can also help protect and rehabilitate the creeks. Misamis University was represented by Dr. Virgilio H. Onganiza, Director of National Service Training Program (NSTP), Ms. Grace V. Villanueva, Director of Misamis University Community Extension Program (MUCEP), and Ms. Hanzen D. Tomatao, Staff, (MUCEP) who received recognitions respectively.
