Misamis University Integrates Biodiversity Conservation Into Sustainable Campus Development
Misamis University integrates biodiversity conservation into its institutional planning and development by embedding ecological considerations in the Misamis University Community Extension Program (MUCEP) Operational Plan. Every new construction, infrastructure enhancement, and landscape design is carefully evaluated to minimize environmental impact and protect local flora and fauna. By prioritizing indigenous species in campus greening initiatives and aligning development activities with ecological guidelines, the University ensures that growth does not compromise the integrity of surrounding natural ecosystems, including those connected to natural parks.
Through these biodiversity-friendly practices, MU strengthens its commitment to SDG 15 (Life on Land) and sets a strong example for sustainable campus development in the region. The creation of green spaces, the use of native plants, and the integration of nature-based solutions contribute not only to environmental protection but also to enhanced learning environments for students and the community. These efforts support THE Impact Rankings criteria, demonstrating how the University translates environmental stewardship into concrete, measurable actions that safeguard biodiversity for future generations.
