MISAMIS UNIVERSITY ASEAN +2 DAY CELEBRATION 2026
Misamis University will hold its ASEAN +2 Day Celebration on July 10, 2026, in the afternoon, at the H.T.F. Activity Center.
The ASEAN +2 Day Celebration is an annual event that supports Misamis University's commitment to advancing the educational goals of ASEAN by promoting regional cooperation, cultural understanding, and collaboration among higher education institutions in Southeast Asia. Through this celebration, the University aims to strengthen friendships, foster intercultural understanding, and create meaningful learning opportunities for students and academic communities across the region.
The event is called ASEAN +2 because, in addition to participants from the ASEAN Member States represented by the Philippines, Thailand, and Indonesia, the University has also invited its partner universities from Taiwan and South Korea to participate virtually. The "+2" symbolizes these two partner countries, which are not ASEAN Member States but actively support international academic collaboration.
This celebration also serves as the culminating activity of the MU International Exchange and Cultural Learning Program 2026, conducted in collaboration with its partner universities. International students participating in this year's exchange program will showcase the knowledge and experiences they have gained throughout the program.
The highlight of the celebration will be the cultural presentations of the international participants and Misamis University students. Participants will present short videos documenting the preparation of their traditional dishes and perform traditional dances from their respective countries while sharing their cultural significance. These presentations reflect the program's focus on culinary arts and traditional dance as powerful ways of promoting cultural appreciation, intercultural understanding, and effective communication among people from different cultural backgrounds.
Misamis University students will also showcase the richness of Filipino culture through traditional folk dances and performances by the MU Chorale, featuring Filipino songs that reflect the nation's values, ideals, and identity.
Ultimately, the celebration is about discovering both the similarities and the unique differences among our cultures, strengthening mutual respect, and building lasting friendships across borders.
