Misamis University Strengthens Global Engagement through HEPCON 2025 Participation and Academic Collaboration in Indonesia
Dr. Lloyd B. Ranises, Director of Linkages and International Affairs of Misamis University, actively participated in the Higher Education Partnerships Conference (HEPCON) 2025, held on September 26–27, 2025, in Jakarta, Indonesia. The conference brought together higher education leaders and international stakeholders from various countries, providing a strategic platform for building academic partnerships across the globe.
The Philippine delegation was represented by Commissioner Desiderio M. Apag of the Commission on Higher Education and Consul Maricar Yambao of the Philippine Embassy, Jakarta, along with officials from Philippine higher education institutions who supported discussions on strengthening international cooperation in higher education. The event created meaningful opportunities for institutional networking and collaboration with potential academic partners.
Outside the conference, Dr. Ranises delivered a lecture entitled “Filipino Communities and Development in the Context of International Cooperation” in several Indonesian higher education institutions that are partners of Misamis University, including Universitas Persada Indonesia Y.A.I., Institut Transportasi dan Logistik Trisakti, Akademi Bakti Kemanusiaan, and Universitas Amikom Purwokerto. In separate sessions and dates, he also participated in meetings focused on research collaboration and academic partnership development with these institutions.
These engagements highlighted key themes of community development, international cooperation, and the role of Filipino communities in global academic and socio-economic contexts. They also strengthened institutional ties between Misamis University and its partner higher education institutions in Indonesia.
As part of his official visit, Dr. Ranises also paid a courtesy call to the Philippine Embassy in Jakarta, where he received updates on current developments in Philippine–Indonesia relations. The visit further reinforced the importance of academic diplomacy and institutional collaboration in advancing international education initiatives.
