Misamis University Shares Grafted Calamansi Trees to Support Gulayan sa Paaralan Program at Misamis Annex Integrated School
Misamis University, through the College of Agriculture and Forestry (CAF) and the National Service Training Program (NSTP) students from the Bachelor of Science in Agriculture (BSA) and Bachelor of Science in Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (BSABE) programs, provided 15 grafted calamansi tree seedlings, each approximately one meter tall, to Misamis Annex Integrated School (MAIS) in support of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Gulayan sa Paaralan Program. MAIS is one of the partner schools of Misamis University in its community extension activities.
The activity aimed to promote sustainable gardening, food security, and environmental awareness among students and the school community. The grafted seedlings were formally received on May 14, 2026, by Dr. Candelaria P. Maghanoy, School Principal and alumna of Misamis University. Dr. Maghanoy expressed her gratitude and appreciation to Misamis University for its support and expertise in helping make the school a greener and more sustainable place.
On May 21, 2026, another group of BSA and BSABE students arrived carrying bolos, shovels, and a sack of humus soil for the actual planting of the calamansi trees. The students successfully planted the grafted calamansi seedlings at the back of the school’s main building. The donated calamansi trees are expected to enhance the school garden, provide an additional source of nutritious produce, and create potential livelihood opportunities for the school community in the future.
This initiative reflects the continuing partnership between Misamis University and its partner schools in promoting community extension services, supporting livelihood initiatives, and fostering greener school environments.
