Misamis University Alumnus Rowell C. Villarubia, an Epitome of MU's Core Value of Excellence
Rowell C. Villarubia is a multi-awarded public school teacher since 2007. He graduated from Misamis University as Magna Cum Laude with Bachelor in Elementary Education major in Mathematics in March 2006.
He finished his Master of Arts in Education major in Educational Management in Misamis University Graduate School in March 2013.
From 2008 to present, Mr. Villarubia has been the school paper adviser of Ozamiz City Central School. His flaming passion in teaching enabled him to excel in his profession especially in the field of Campus Journalism. As a mathematician, he has developed a special formula in coaching pupils to become winners in their respective writing events. .
He has carved a name in the division, regional and national schools press conferences in the school paper group contest and in individual writing events. He is also a resource person in various journalism seminars and trainings conducted by the Ozamiz City Division. .
In 2010, he was awarded the Most Outstanding School Paper Adviser in Ozamiz City Division for bringing home two gold medals in feature and editorial writing and three other major awards during the 2010 Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) in Iligan City. In 2012, he was named as Regional Outstanding Journalism Club Adviser after grabbing 2nd Place Winner Coach in Editorial Writing during the 2011 National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) in Butuan City. .
As a leader, he is the current president of Region 10 Elementary School Paper Advisers Association and also the incumbent president of the division chapter. .
Motivated to achieve more, Mr. Villarubia participated in the Search for Outstanding School Paper Adviser in the Philippines. He bested the other school paper advisers from the 14 divisions of Region 10. At 27, he is the youngest among the 16 National Outstanding School Paper Advisers. The awarding ceremony was held in Ormoc City on April 9, 2013 on the occasion of the 2013 National Schools Press Conference. .
