The prestigious award recognizes the university's significant contributions in advancing research, extension services, and collaborative programs that support biodiversity conservation and protected area management. It highlights Misamis University's ongoing partnership with the DENR to advance programs that promote environmental stewardship, community empowerment, and the achievement of UN Sustainable Development Goals.
The awarding ceremony was one of the highlights of DENR Region 10's month-long celebration of its 39th Founding Anniversary and the Philippine Environment Month, observed every June pursuant to Executive Order No. 192 and Presidential Proclamation No. 237, series of 1998. The event brought together government agencies, academic institutions, local government units, private organizations, and community partners whose collaborative efforts have significantly contributed to the achievement of DENR's environmental goals.
Representing Misamis University, Director Grace V. Villanueva received the Plaque of Recognition together with other awardees from Misamis Occidental. The award was presented by the officials of DENR Misamis Occidental, headed by PENR Officer Rey S. Fernandez, together with Protected Area Superintendent (PASu) Alson D.
