Misamis University Explores Partnership with Cebu Mitsumi to Enhance Graduate Employment Opportunities
In its ongoing commitment to strengthening industry linkages and enhancing employment opportunities for its graduates, Misamis University has worked with Cebu Mitsumi Inc. to explore potential career opportunities for its students.
Cebu Mitsumi Inc., a prominent corporation based in Sabang, Danao City, is a branch of MinebeaMitsumi, Inc., a Japanese multinational manufacturer of mechanical components and electronic devices headquartered in Higashi-Shinbashi, Minato, Tokyo, Japan. Consistently ranked among the top exporters in the Philippines, Cebu Mitsumi is known for its competitive edge in the global market. The company is equally committed to attracting the best talent in the country and is actively seeking skilled professionals. To help meet its recruitment needs, Cebu Mitsumi has collaborated with Misamis University.
To realize their collaboration, Cebu Mitsumi launched a Special Recruitment Activity on October 8, 2024, at the Function Hall of Misamis University. The event aimed to provide career opportunities to students, particularly those from Engineering and related fields. Currently, Cebu Mitsumi is seeking to fill over 600 positions, offering valuable employment opportunities to the university's graduating students.
The recruitment activity was prepared for fourth-year students from various programs, including Engineering, Business Administration, IT, Computer Science, Social Work, and Psychology. These students, who are set to graduate in 2025, were invited to participate in the event.
Kristel Marie Sangutan, a recruiter from Cebu Mitsumi, led the recruitment activity and provided students with detailed information about the company's job openings and career development opportunities. Faculty members from the College of Engineering and Technology, College of Computer Studies, College of Business Management, and College of Arts and Sciences facilitated the event, ensuring that the recruitment process ran smoothly. Among the faculty members who facilitated the activity were Engr. Hannah Mae S. Padilla, Engr. Genelyn J. Caritos, Engr. Alona Amor M. Bajal, Ms. Jerry M. Lumayag, and Ms. Chriscel Maribojoc.
Students participated in the recruitment by submitting their résumés, undergoing interviews with the recruiter, and completing skills assessments to evaluate their qualifications for the available positions. The event provided an invaluable opportunity for students to engage directly with a leading industry player, taking a significant step toward securing employment after graduation.
Through this potential partnership with Cebu Mitsumi, Misamis University continues to facilitate employment opportunities for its graduates, assisting them in transitioning from academia to the professional world. This initiative ensures the university’s commitment to providing quality education while fostering meaningful industry collaborations that create real-world employment opportunities for its students.
