Misamis University Celebrates 57th ASEAN Day with Successful Virtual Forum on Strengthening Academic and Industry Collaboration
On August 8, 2024, Misamis University successfully hosted a virtual forum titled "Expanding Horizons: Building Academic and Industry Connections with Southeast Asian Nations" to celebrate the 57th ASEAN Day. The event marked a significant milestone in the university's efforts to advance its internationalization within the ASEAN region, for strengthening academic and industry collaborations.
Although the forum was conducted virtually, participants—including the administration, deans, faculty members, and students from various colleges—attended in person at the Covered Court. The primary focus was on deepening the understanding of Southeast Asian integration and offering valuable insights into identifying potential partner universities and industries across the region. The event also provided a valuable platform for exchanging best practices and exploring future collaboration opportunities, which are expected to significantly boost the university. This initiative reflects Misamis University's commitment to fostering academic collaborations and industry linkages that benefit both its academic community and the broader ASEAN region.
The celebration featured notable international participation. Dr. Korakit Choomgrant, Associate Dean for International Affairs and Education Quality Development at Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand, delivered an inspiring message. A key highlight of the event was a virtual presentation by Dr. Roger Y. Chao Jr., Head of Education, Youth, and Sport at the ASEAN Secretariat, Jakarta, Indonesia. Dr. Chao emphasized the importance of these collaborations in advancing the university's internationalization efforts and strengthening its impact within the ASEAN region.
