Two-Day Seminar on World Rankings for Ensuring MU's Commitment to Meaningful and Quality Education

Misamis University continues to advance its pursuit of becoming a globally recognized institution of learning through its Two-Day Seminar on World University Rankings held on June 20-21, 2024 at the Function Hall. This seminar was held for ensuring meaningful and quality education in the Misamis University. This seminar featured Dr. Engelbert C. Pasag, the Vice President for Internationalization at Panpacific University in Pangasinan, as the distinguished speaker. Deans, department heads, and various faculty and staff attended the seminar, underscoring the university's commitment to deliver quality education at par with international standards.

Dr. Pasag started his presentation with an overview of world rankings and strategies to enhance collaborations among Southeast Asian HEIs. He then continued by sharing the experiences of how Panpacific University successfully got world ranked, detailing the application process and the refinement of university policies to align and integrate with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (17 UN SGDs) and the institution's core values. He also highlighted the strategic adjustments and initiatives that facilitated their achievement of rankings in QS Stars Rating, World University Rankings for Innovation (WURI), Greenmetrics, Applied Higher Education, and Times Higher Education.

In addition, Dr. Pasag offered practical advice based on successful practices implemented at Panpacific University, emphasizing the importance of fostering a culture of sharing, living with the 17 UN SGDs daily, and optimizing institutional resources. By sharing concrete examples of effective strategies, he provided a roadmap for Misamis University to proactively address challenges and leverage opportunities for the delivery of quality education.

Throughout the seminar, participants engaged in thoughtful discussions that not only highlighted areas needing improvement, but also encouraged a deep reflection on institutional readiness and commitment to achieving recognition on a global scale. With the QS Stars Tool, it enabled the participants to objectively assess Misamis University’s current standing and formulate actionable strategies for advancement.
