Misamis University Gains Membership in NOMCAARRD, Expanding Regional Research Collaboration
Misamis University has achieved another significant milestone in strengthening its research and development initiatives with its approval as a member of the Northern Mindanao Consortium for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (NOMCAARRD).
The membership was approved by the Regional Research and Development Coordinating Council (RRDCC) during its 138th RRDCC Meeting held on 25 June 2026 via Zoom.
The recognition marks an important step in expanding Misamis University’s network of research and development partners and creating more opportunities for collaborative initiatives across Northern Mindanao. Through its membership in NOMCAARRD, MU can actively participate in research, development, and extension activities addressing concerns and opportunities in agriculture, aquatic resources, and natural resources (AANR).
This new partnership supports the University’s continuing commitment to producing relevant and responsive research that contributes to community development, environmental sustainability, food security, and innovation. It also provides opportunities for MU researchers and faculty members to engage with other institutions and organizations in knowledge sharing, collaborative research projects, capacity-building activities, and regional initiatives.
The achievement is aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 2: Zero Hunger, through support for sustainable agriculture and food security; SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation, through responsible management of water resources; SDG 13: Climate Action, through research addressing climate and environmental concerns; SDG 14: Life Below Water, through the sustainable use and protection of aquatic resources; SDG 15: Life on Land, through responsible management and conservation of terrestrial ecosystems; and SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, through strengthened collaboration among academic, research, government, and community partners.
As Misamis University continues to strengthen its research culture and strategic partnerships, its membership in NOMCAARRD opens new avenues for generating knowledge and innovations that can help address regional challenges and contribute to sustainable development.
This milestone reflects MU’s commitment to research excellence, innovation, collaboration, and meaningful service to communities, further strengthening its role as a partner in advancing sustainable development in Northern Mindanao.
Misamis University congratulates its research community on this achievement and looks forward to meaningful collaborations that create lasting impact for the region and its people.
