Sama-Sama sa 2025 Brigada Eskwela with MU
Embracing the values of teamwork and volunteerism, Misamis University joins with the Department of Education and the selected public schools in Ozamiz and Tudela for the 2025 Brigada Eskwela. Originally scheduled from the 9th to the 14th of June, MU’s participation continued up until the month of July for a series of assistance. Brigada Eskwela is an annual weeklong activity to improve and prepare school facilities for the school year, support learners’ physical and mental health, and connect with the school stakeholders as guided by the theme, “Brigada Eskwela: Sama-sama Para sa Bayang Bumabasa.”Among the schools visited were Barra Elementary School, Baybay Central School, Misamis Annex Integrated School, Ozamiz City National High School, and Ozamiz City Central School. The Misamis University faculty, staff, and students shared their resources, time, and effort in constant support for the young learners.
Barra Elementary School
Barra Elementary School has been a partner of Misamis University since November 2024. On June 11, 2025, the College of Computer Studies (CCS) led the turnover of 570 sets of school supplies for students from Kindergarten to Grade 6, along with the distribution of snacks. Various departments also showed their support through in-kind donations.

Baybay Elementary School
Baybay Elementary School is a partner community of the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS) for its program in English, Math, and Biology. For the 2025 Brigada Eskwela, the college donated books and cleaned the BAGIDA Corner, a mini-library established by CAS years ago to promote reading. For this school year, CAS plans to continue the implementation of its community extension program, Reading Education Advancement Program (REAP) with Math-TINIK, and Environmental Preservation and Conservation.

Misamis Annex Integrated School (MAIS)
Misamis Annex Integrated School is the partner community of the Graduate School (MAED/EdD Programs) for its Reading Education Advancement Program (REAP). Similar to Barra Elementary School, MU also turned over an additional 3 wooden shelves and 30 wooden chairs, as the school was building its Learning Resource Center. With the support of Dr. Karen Belina F. De Leon (University President), this collaborative activity was led by Mrs. Myrna Cartagenas (MU Library Director) and Dr. Elsa Buenavidez (Graduate School Community Extension Program Coordinator). The Graduate School contributed a gallon of latex paint, brush, and tray. Faculty, staff, and students from various departments and colleges helped in painting the center on July 7, 2025. Last year, MU also turned over various reference materials at MAIS.
Atty. Charyljoy Navarez, former MAIS Principal, pushed through the opening of the learning resource center on July 29, 2025. It was attended by MAIS stakeholders, including Misamis University.

Ozamiz City National High School
One of the MU College of Education’s (CED) partner schools during internships is the Ozamiz City National High School. The Brigada Eskwela was participated in by MU CED Faculty and Alumni who recently completed their internship program at the institution. MU Librarians also joined the clean-up.

Ozamiz City Central Elementary School
Strengthening, Honing, and Intensifying, Nurturing, and Educating Learners to Love Reading (SHINE) is a community extension program of MU CED. They conduct regular reading tutorials as an assistance to public school teachers. Participating in the OCCS Brigada Eskwela has been a tradition at the college. Faculty, staff, and students arranged bricks and helped with painting. CED also shared 27 pads of paper, 18 notebooks, and sets of school supplies (crayons, ruler, bondpaper, eraser, scissors, pencils, and sharpeners). The college was joined by the Misamis Occidental Volunteers for Environment (MOVE) - MU Chapter, an organization managed by the MU Community Extension Program.

Through strengthened partnerships and collaboration, Brigada Eskwela 2025, together with the adopted schools of Misamis University, builds a culture of shared responsibility, hope, and inspiration. With every effort, communities create learning spaces where students are motivated, proactive, and ready to reach their full potential.
