Misamis University Reports on Expanded Partnerships in 2025
Misamis University (MU) has continued to strengthen and expand its partnerships both locally and internationally in 2025. These collaborations span international higher education institutions (HEIs), regional organizations, industries, local government units, and local HEIs.
MU currently has 14 international HEI partners, primarily in Southeast Asia and Asia, including Thailand, Malaysia, and Indonesia. These partnerships focus on knowledge exchange, faculty and student mobility, and sustainable development initiatives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 16 (Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions). Students and faculty engage in programs related to sustainable engineering, tourism, and cultural exchange, promoting mutual understanding and global competency. Notable international HEI partners include Kasetsart University, INTI International University, Universitas Persada Indonesia Y.A.I., Universitas Serang Raya, Universitas Riau Kepulauan, Universitas Amikom Purwokerto, Akademi Bakti, Akademi Sages, Institut Transportasi dan Logistik Trisakti, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Dhurakij Pundit University, Vellore Institute of Technology, Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology, and Bhopal University.
In addition, MU maintains partnerships with regional and international organizations, such as AUAP, UMAP, APCORE, and ASAIHL. These networks provide access to student and faculty exchanges, capacity-building trainings, and broader international engagement opportunities.
Industry partnerships remain a key focus for MU, especially in shipping, engineering, medical technology, and computer-related industries. International and local partners provide internships, curriculum updates, training, and employment pathways. Marine graduates benefit from structured recruitment and training with international shipping companies, while local companies offer similar opportunities within the Philippines. The engineering partnership with MinebeaMitsumi in Cebu includes recruitment, faculty lectures, and curriculum enhancement. Medical technology students gain practical experience in hospitals such as MHARS Medical Center, Misamis University Medical Center, Perpetual Help Medical Center, San Lazaro Hospital, Adventist Medical Center, and Metropolitan Medical Center. Education and computer studies students also have industry partners for internships and training, including DepEd Ozamiz, Knowles Training Institute (Singapore), DICT Tubod, Sophi Outsourcing, and several others.
The MU Research Center collaborates with local government units to conduct research in their communities, facilitating data gathering and ensuring the implementation of research findings to benefit local populations. MU also works with seven local HEIs to exchange knowledge and best practices, benchmark programs, and improve the quality of education. Local HEI partners include Technological Institute of the Philippines, Our Lady of Fatima University, Baliuag University, José Rizal University, Universidad de Zamboanga, Panpacific University, and University of the Philippines Los Baños.
Misamis University continues to strengthen these partnerships through strategic engagement, regular feedback, and outcome assessment to ensure sustainability and maximize impact. These collaborations contribute to the university’s goal of providing quality education, fostering internationalization, and promoting development in local and global communities.
