MU Alumnus Sultan Engr. Shayed Marcaban Mamayog Serves as Resource Speaker at the 72nd PSME National Convention
MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers (PSME) held its 72nd National Convention at SMX Manila on October 18, 2024, gathering esteemed professionals and industry leaders to discuss this year’s theme: "Unity and Prosperity: The Key to a Powerful, Influential, and Relevant Society." Among the convention's key highlights was the participation of Engr. Shayed Marcaban Mamayog, an accomplished alumnus of Misamis University's College of Engineering and Technology, as one of the esteemed Resource Speakers.
Engr. Mamayog, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering in March 1989, has established a reputable career in the field of engineering, both in the Philippines and International arena. After earning his Registered Mechanical Engineer License in 2000, he obtained his Professional Mechanical Engineer License in 2010. Notably, he was part of the pioneering batch of Professional Mechanical Engineers in the United Arab Emirates.
Beyond his technical achievements, Engr. Mamayog has demonstrated concrete initiatives advancing the engineering profession globally. In 2010, he served as the Past President of the PSME chapter in Abu Dhabi, followed by his pivotal role as the Charter President of the PSME chapter in Oman in 2012. His leadership extended further in 2023 when he was appointed as the National Vice President for the Middle East in the PSME organization, advocating for Filipino engineers in the region.
In 2015, Engr. Mamayog became the first Filipino actively involved in the ASEAN Chartered Professional Engineer (ACPE). He is currently making impactful contributions as a Senior Projects Manager with Majid Al Futtaim LLC in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, overseeing critical infrastructure projects. Adding to his identity, Engr. Mamayog is also the reigning Sultan of Tukuran, Zamboanga Del Sur, embodying both engineering and cultural leadership.
His contributions and achievements were duly recognized at the convention, where he imparted valuable insights to aspiring engineers and industry professionals. The 72nd PSME National Convention, through the esteemed presence of speakers such as Engr. Mamayog emphasized unity and prosperity as foundational principles in establishing a powerful, influential, and relevant engineering profession.
