
MU Alumnus Mr. Marc Will L. Villacora Fulbright Distinguished Awards Teaching for International Teachers Grantee at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, U.S.A.
Pennsylvannia, U.S.A - Mr. Marc Will L. Villacora, LPT, MAEd a distinguished alumnus was selected as a Principal Candidate for the Fulbright Distinguished Awards in Teaching for International Teachers (Fulbright DAI) at Indiana University of Pennsylvania granted by the US Department of State and the Philippine-American Foundation. Notably, Mr. Villacora is the sole grantee from Mindanao and he is bound to the United States of America this school year 2025- 2026.
He currently serves as Master Teacher I at Tubod Central Elementary School and the School Paper Adviser of Tuburan, which garnered the Overall Best School Paper in Elementary English during the 2025 National Schools Press Conference (NSPC)—the highest distinction conferred on campus publications nationwide. Under his stewardship, the publication also secured Second Place in both the Features and Sports Writing categories at the same event. Earlier, Tuburan was recognized as the Overall Best School Paper at the 2025 Regional Schools Press Conference (RSPC) in Region X, further affirming Mr. Villacora’s effectiveness as a campus journalism mentor and media educator.
In the field of literature, Mr. Villacora has also gained national acclaim. He is the author of “Ang Kakaibang Ilaw ni Silaw,” a children’s book that was selected as one of the 55 ReadEx Picks in the highly competitive National Gawad Teodora Alonso 2024, an annual search for outstanding literary works across the Philippines. Among thousands of entries, his work was distinguished for its literary quality and pedagogical value. It also earned First Place in the Regional Gawad Teodora Alonso 2024, showing his emerging role as a key literary voice in the region.
From 2020 to 2022, Mr. Villacora was detailed at the Department of Education – Central Office, where he served under the Office of the Undersecretary for Administration as a National Teacher Broadcaster for DepEd TV. His involvement in this flagship educational initiative helped sustain nationwide access to quality education during the COVID-19 pandemic, showcasing his versatility in educational media and distance learning.
His pursuit of excellence in communication and leadership began during his formative years at Misamis University. As a student, he contributed as a News and Feature Writer for the Misamis Collegian, the official student publication of the University. He also earned distinction as a debate champion during the 2013 Intramurals, reflecting his early aptitude in critical thinking, advocacy, and public discourse.
