Dr. Junifer A. Abatayo Honored as Ulirang Guro Global 2024 by the Association of Fil-Am Teachers of America Inc.
New York, U.S.A – Dr. Junifer A. Abatayo, a respected educator and scholar with an exemplary experience in teaching, leadership, and research, has been honored with the Ulirang Guro Global 2024 award by the Association of Fil-Am Teachers of America (AFTA). The award was conferred during the Gabi ng Parangal 2024 event, held in Queens, New York, U.S.A.
Dr. Abatayo’s educational journey is rooted in Misamis University, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1998 and pursued a Master’s degree in Education in 2001. Just two years later, he completed his Doctor of Education in March 2004, solidifying his expertise in the academe. Throughout his career, he has held influential roles at numerous academic institutions, demonstrating versatility and leadership in various educational settings. Dr. Abatayo’s extensive teaching and administrative experience began at Misamis University, where he served as the Department Head of the English Language Department within the College of Arts and Sciences.
He later expanded his reach internationally as an English Instructor in the Department of English and Applied Linguistics at De La Salle University - Manila and as a professor in the Graduate School of the University of the East - Manila. His expertise then led him abroad, where he took on an Assistant Professorship at Yanbu Industrial College in Saudi Arabia.
In 2015, Dr. Abatayo joined Sohar University in Oman, taking on dual roles as an Assistant Professor and the Chairman of the Center for Educational Development in the Faculty of Language Studies, Education, and Arts. His leadership at Sohar University was instrumental in enhancing the institution’s educational programs and supporting faculty development. That same year, Misamis University recognized his accomplishments by awarding him the title of “Most Outstanding Alumni,” a fitting acknowledgment of his global contributions to education and his role as an inspiring figure for future generations.
More recently, Dr. Abatayo became the President of the Philippine Teachers Association in Bahrain, a position he assumed in 2022. He is currently an Assistant Professor at the University of Bahrain, where he continues to advocate for academic excellence and cultural understanding. Dr. Abatayo is also a prolific researcher with 20 publications across a range of respected academic journals. His research has garnered widespread attention, attracting more than 12,000 readers and receiving citations from leading universities around the world, including Florida State University, Texas A&M University, Lancaster University, Edge Hill University, and Monash University in Australia.
