MOA SIGNING Between Misamis University and DENR

Misamis University, Ozamiz City and the Forest and Timber Resources Research Center – Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB – FTRRC), the research arm of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), signed a MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT (MOA) for the proposed ESTABLISHMENT OF PROGENCY FIELD TRIAL of ITP SPECIES on October 20, 2016 at 9:00 am at Misamis University, Ozamiz City.

The MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT (MOA) strengthens the interest of both parties in improving the productivity of the tree plantation ventures within Regions 9, 10 and CARAGA also known as the Timber Corridor of the Philippines.

Misamis University, through the College of Agriculture, will make available 3 hectares of farm lands to ERDB – FTRRC for the establishment of Progency Field Trials.

The DENR, through the Forest and Timber Resources Research Center – Ecosystems Research and Development Bureau (ERDB – FTRRC), will provide the high quality planting materials of indigenous tree species and industrial tree plantation (ITP) species and other requirements needed for the establishment of the Progency Field Trials (PFTs).

Misamis University was chosen as a partner in this national endeavor of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) because of its commitment in promoting competitive quality education in Mindanao.

The MOA SIGNING event was represented by the following: Forester Conrado B. Marquez, head of Forest and Timber Resources Research Center (FTRRC); Ms. Elizabeth Gran, CENRO; Dr. Mildred M. Garcia, acting VP for Academic Affairs; Dr. Geraldine D. Durias, Asst. VPAA for Academic Planning and Research; Dr. Aser L. Cambangay, Dean, College of Agriculture and Forestry. Selected students and faculty from the college also witnessed the event.

More than being aligned to the university’s continued quest for excellence through research and community linkages, this event also marks a fulfillment of the university’s mission of engaging the comMUnity in environmental consciousness and concerns.
